If your in the mood for great Indian food try out this Indian buffet 7 days a week. Lunch hours and amazing. Great selection of all the dishes along with the mint chutney which my Mom and I love. I was so happy to see a great Indian restaurant close to my old hometown. It makes it very convenient to come home and stop out for an affordable, quick, quality lunch. Great Indian food is hard to come by sometimes and once you find a place it is hard to let go. The Naan is served to each table warm and fresh and is great of sopping up all the great saucy flavors from your plate. By far one of the best additions to this plaza and area. If you are an Indian fan I recommend the lunch buffet. You will never leave once you enjoy the great service, exceptional food, and nice ambiance. If you enjoy your experience please yelp it and keep it going.

I went here about a year ago and it was my first time trying Indian food. It was amazing. The food has an exquisite taste and full of so much flavor. I have tried several other places in pa and Delaware. This is still my favorite. I have not had a bad meal here. I live in Delaware and I make it a point to go once a week because it's that good. Some of my favorite item: vegetable samosa, pakora, aloo tikki chat, chicken tikki masala, chicken Korma, chicken vindaloo, tandoori chicken. All the sides are delicious and all the naans are great. If you want amazing Indian food, this is the place to go!

For all the Non-Indians. Enjoy the food there but don't call it Indian food. On a rainy Saturday evening and the last weekend alone with wife before the baby enters the outside world. We thought would go on a date night and ended up here. When first walked in I was surprised to see no Indians at the table but all non-Indians. The server takes our order for Kadai Paneer, Roti & naan. We were hungry and waited anxiously for our order. After 15 minutes and our order arrived. While we quickly grabbed the bread and served ourself some curry. The first bite into it and went into future on how good would taste when our kids cook it for the first time @ age of 3. I tried to tell the server that Kadai Paneer doesn't have ketchup on it as I have had it zillion times and he just wouldn't accept. I wish I had printer to print him the recepie. No wonder why it's hidden in the corner and all non-indian customer base. My advice drive few miles around and find a place that serves Indian food Quantity is OK and Rotis are good ( not from clay pot) straight from stove top I don't think I will ever go again even if I am starving. If you like the food enjoy. But please don't bring a shame to Indian food by calling this Indian Hopefully the owner and chef will sit down one day. Get the recipes from YouTube atleast and learn to cook authentic Indian

Coming from the area of Fremont in the Bay Area and have tried many Indian restaurants, this one is on my top 3. First, I'm not used to the nice ambiance for this cuisine. Rarely would I consider taking someone on a formal date to an Indian restaurant. They're usually very quick, noisy, or it's something I grab and go. This one is very quiet and definitely a sit down restaurant. Now for the food. My coworkers like butter chicken, I'm more of the traditional Chicken Tikki Massala or lamb dish. I ended up getting the lamb dish with the medium spice level. It was great. The butter chicken was surprisingly good, sweet, and savory. We also ordered the lamb samosas (3.5/5). Garlic naan was great! Other naans aren't bad either, just really what you're in the mood for. Other than that, the only thing that I can see improving in this establishment is the mango lassi. It's too thick for my liking and also too sweet. If you like that, then go right ahead and order it. This is one of the few good places to eat outside of Philly, and we're staying in the suburbs so it's a gem to have something like this available. I'd like to try the lunch buffet if we have time.

The lunch buffet at this place used to be fabulous -- great saag, chicken makhani, aloo gobi and naan. But the last two times I have been there, the buffet was cold. Not lukewarm --cold. Not only is that a health hazard, but it's not very appetizing. We told the waiter, and he simply shrugged. It's sad, because the area could use a good Indian restaurant. But I won't be going back.

The folks who own and operate Shere-E-Punjab in Media have opened a second Indian restaurant in our hometown of Drexel Hill. Who ever thought that we'd be just five minutes away from remarkably good lamb vindaloo and tandoori chicken? The interior of Shere-E-Punjab is typical metro swank -- tiled floors, earthtones and dark woods abounding. If you're seated at one of the spacious booths near the floor-to-ceiling windows you'll have a view of the parking lot in front of Fisher's Hardware and not much else, so just keep looking at your dinner partner and dipping your nann into the excellent chutney on the table in front of you. The samosas are understated when you take your first bite but increasingly complex as you chew -- layer upon layer of spice and starch unfolding on the tongue. The lamb and chicken dishes are superb. If you're unfraid of spicey Indian cuisine then ask your waitperson to have your dish seasoned at an "eight" and you won't be disappointed. Their desserts and lassis are especially good so treat yourself. This is a BYOB restaurant and surprisingly affordable (a multicourse meal for three of us cost less than fifty dollars). They also serve a daytime buffet seven days a week, and if it's half as good as the one at the Media Shere-E-Punjab we'll be spending many a lunch hour ignoring the awning of the Ace Hardware across the asphalt of the Drexeline Shopping Center and enjoying the excellent food and attentive service. Highly recommended. One cautionary note: The wait staff is very good and quite professional. Your dishes will be delivered quickly and your water glasses refilled with great diligence. But you'll have to be persistent about getting your check. I had to flag down three of the staff in order to get a bill delivered to the table.

Best Indian food I've had. We order from here a few times a month. Consistently good and we have never had an issue with service.

Every time I've been in here recently the place is empty. Get in here people! You're missing a great BYOB spot with good authentic Indian food!

AMAZING FOOD!! This place is great and the service is excellent. I've only been there for dinner (and only lived in the area for about 3 months, but have gone here at least 4 times already). Good price too. I hear their lunch buffet is excellent, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Definitely recommend!!

A hidden gem. I don't have much experience with Indian food, but I tried everything on the lunch Buffett and it was all delicious. I look forward to going again.

I am originally a customer of the Media restaurant, so you can imagine my shear joy in hearing one closer to home opened up. I usually get my food to go, but am really looking forward to checking out the lunch buffet. The food is ALWAYS consistently good, and the servers are well mannered. This is a must visit!

I'm not an expert on Indian food, but of all the places I've been in this area I would say this is the best I've had. A friend of mine from London always said go close to a teaching hospital and you'll find the best Indian restaurant. Well, I've been to a couple downtown and Khajauro in Ardmore, and I would say Punjab is much better. They start you off with Papadams. The lamb Vindaloo was spicy , but not super hot. The waitress offered to make it as hot as I wanted, but my son made that mistake one time at a place in NY and couldn't get out of the house the next day. I stayed with what she said was a 6 on a scale of 10. Next time I might try a 7 just to see. Garlic stuffed Naan was excellent. I love Naan's and they offer 6 versions, including some I hadn't seen before. The shrimp dish the waitress recommended was also good, but I don't remember the name. This place is so much better than Khajauro and the portions are better. The Nann was 5 large moist pieces stuffed with garlic, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The bill, for 2 including tax..............................$33.00. How crazy is that? They don't charge for corkage and they take all credit cards. REstaurant sits back in a strip mall so you have to look carefully when you are going there, but I will go back for sure.

Been here three times now and the food is always great. Dinner service is prompt and reasonably attentive without being overbearing. Food quality is excellent with a nice mix of "americanized" Indian and more authentic dishes. Kitchen staff is willing to customize spiciness to individual tastes but tend to overstate the level of heat. Lunch buffet is OK but the quality is a bit lower than dinner but certainly priced right. Definitely a return customer.

Great experience here!! My husband and I went for dinner here on a week night. We had Indian food before so we stuck to what we knew. Chicken Tikka Masala for me and Chicken Tikka for him. Our server was very nice and pushed my limits insisting that I have regular spicy instead of mild. He was right and joked with us about it later. I really enjoyed the interaction but others may think it's intrusive. Our food came out so fast and it was hot. It didn't taste like something that had been sitting around all day. We had garlic naan also and our bill was around $30. There was still enough food left over for lunch the next day and we left stuffed. This is a new favorite. Update: I had my birthday dinner here (party of ten). It seemed very reasonable on the wallet for all but something out of norm. The service was impeccable. I had two friends that got lost and didn't come in until an hour after we had finished. The staff acted like it was no problem. The were promptly given water and their food came out in like 15 minutes. We closed the place down!! It was about 10pm (dinner started at 6:30) and they handed us the check. We didn't get the condescending "you need coffee dessert? no! then go home!" treatment.

By far the best Indian food I've ever had. I've been here about 15-20 times. It's perfectly reliable and the best food I've eaten anywhere, period. I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants. Unfortunately I live about a 2 hour drive away from this place, but whenever I head into Philly or nearby I have to stop here. I highly recommend the lamb korma, along with their veggie samosas, garlic naan, and their absolutely incredible mango lassis. The service is very good, sometimes a bit too engaging. Not really an issue but the staff checks on you somewhat more often than is necessary. I was introduced to this place by a friend, and I know quite a few people that would agree with me on the excellence of the food here, but I recognize that not everyone on this world would simply want to eat here for every meal for the entirety of their lives like I do.

Nice place to go for a quick and very reasonable lunch. $10 for the buffet and bread (sort of a puri but deflated). It is a good way to introduce new comers. None of the food was very spicy, even the vindaloos which in other places can burn the hair off of your head. If you want something convenient and different in DelCo, try it. They also have a place on State Street in Media, as well. The decor is quite nice for being in a strip mall across from Fisher's hardware.

Since we first moved to D-Hill in '07, we have been bemoaning the lack of dining variety. Unless we wanted pizza, cheesesteaks, or Chinese food, we had to venture to Media, Ardmore, or Philly for a nice dinner out. So we were THRILLED when Shere-E-Punjab showed up in our backyard. We took ourselves there for an end-of-summer dinner 2 weeks ago. Since it's a BYO, we picked up a bottle at the Township Line wine store beforehand. Wasn't crowded at all (I get the feeling they do a booming take-out service), and our waiter was quick and attentive. We started with Papdi Chat (kind of Indian nachos, for lack of better comparison), samosas, and naan bread. All yummy...but nothing compared to the Chicken Tikka Masala I got for my main course. Unbelievable. I actually ordered more naan to soak up the sauce when I was done. (I made sure to request "mild", which I think made a difference--I was actually able to taste the flavors rather than be scared off by the spiciness.) Everything was reasonably priced, and it really was a nice night out. Yum, yum, yum.

Came here while visiting a friend in Philly and we were craving some Indian food. I'm so glad we came here! Unlimited delicious and flavorful food all for $8?? What a bargain! I'm really bad with remembering the dishes they had in their lunch buffet, but I was a huge fan of the spinach/cheese dish and their chicken tika masala! Their homemade yogurts and desserts were so good! I wish I could come here whenever I wanted... too bad I live in California :( Definitely would come here again if I'm ever in Philly!

Great buffet! I love Indian food, but am very rarely impressed by what I get at Indian restaurants. Everything was delicious. And the garlic Naan that they bring out to your table is irresistable!

The mango lassi was good. The tandori chicken was bland, but it did come with a decent amount of onions and peppers. The lamb masala had a good sauce, but little lamb. Luckily, I had a lot of bland tandori chicken to dunk in the sauce. I might go back to try the buffet, but will not return for single dishes.

I reviewed them exactly a year ago, and they were my favorite Indian restaurant then. A year later, they still got it! I feel they deserve the long review treatment from me now. I took the wife there tonight for my birthday, as well as my mom. Now, my wife is the Indian food expert being from Mumbai, but this is really only the third time my Philly born mom has had Indian food. So if this place pleases her, I figure it can please anyone. We did order everything mild to go easy on Mom though. The wife and I like some kick to the food. The key is of course whether or not the food can still be great without the extra kick. Just about every dish I've ever had there is among the best anywhere. So the challenge was to make it good tonight on the mild side. We got three appetizers and passed them around, the Vegetable Pakora, the Aloo Tikki Chaat, and the Reshmi Kabob. The pakora is definitely among the best out there. The chaat was perfect with just the right amount of tang to it. The kabob was slightly dry but still tasted good. Indian kabobs aren't often juicy though from my experience. So for the meal, we split up some Chicken Korma, Chicken Makhani, Shrimp Karahi, and Vegetable Biryani with a basket of Garlic Naan. The only dish that mildly disappointed anyone at the table was the Shrimp Karahi. It wasn't that it was bad, it just tasted like the shrimp didn't belong in that dish. I've had Chicken Karahi before with much better results. Of course, that dish probably needed the kick to be interesting, and we ordered it mild, so I will give the pass. I'm sure it is much better with some punch to it. The Makhani and Korma was as good as anything I've had in the area, and went well being poured over the biryani. And the naan... well, it's fresh baked naan. It's going to be awesome as long as it is done right. It was, of course. A little dessert was in order. Mom enjoyed the Kheer, and the wife and I split some Gulab Jamun. Probably good to split it since we didn't want to get too full. Perfect ending, I must say. And they still have the best Mango Lassi I've ever had. I finished mine before the food even came to the table. Service can be slow. But you get over it once the food arrives. Yes, I will say that even on the mild side, this place puts out an excellent meal. Of course my wife loved it, and Mom loved it too. Still the best in the area, and no one has beaten them yet!

Huge fan of Indian food! I come here for the lunch and dinner buffet when I want a quick, satisfying, and delicious meal. Or when I am running errands in the D. Hill and Springfield area. It's located near a shopping center with abundant parking. The decor is inviting and clean. Service is always friendly and attentive. And it's BYOB! The naan comes to your table hot and fresh, ready to be dipped into their dishes. The buffet changes, but they always have the staples: tandoori chicken, samosas, paneer, and the rice. The buffets are about $14 for dinner, and I believe $12 on the weekends. Thank goodness it's right in my neighborhood!

I eat here for lunch almost every week, (Drexel Hill)., having the buffet. Always tasty, with plenty of selection. Food is a bit spicy, not just hot. Probably why I like it so much. Quite a bargain, with a free order of Nan included.

I was out in the burbs on a shopping adventure with my parents, who decided they were desperately craving Indian food. As usual, my go to was yelp. Thanks to my fellow yelpers, I found this place; by no fault of theirs, did I really not enjoy my experience. When we walked in - the restaurant was empty, but they took about 25 minutes to come see us about our order. We ordered a few app's, two curries, and two naan's. The appetizers arrived, and they were really the ONLY highlight of my meal. They were good. We had the aloo papri chaat and pakora. They were both well made, fresh, and definitely tasted like they should have tasted. They didn't by any measure blow me away. But they were good. Then came the disasterous main dishes. We ordered the aloo gobi and the channa - the aloo tasted like potato & cauliflower that had been tossed in some tomato sauce. With little to no flavor. If you've had Indian food before, you know that Indian food has flavor. Like MAD FLAVOR. This was TERRIBLE! It was so bland. And just plain boring. I was super disappointed. I tried the channa, and found the same thing. Pretty much garbanzo beans cooked in flavorless tomato paste. The naan wasn't too bad. But also not too great. Overall, the service is meh, the quality of Indian food is pretty terrible, and there wasn't a lot of really positive things about my experience here. I did appreciate the fact that it's BYOB. From what I can see, the buffet is great, so maybe I'd give it another shot for that - but other than that, really not planning on going back.

Pretty glad there's an Indian restaurant in the Delco area that's decent and within a 15 min driving distance from my apt. I ordered the garlic naan and such. The garlic naan was a little bit too crispy n burnt but nonetheless the flavor of the garlic and its ingredients were still retained in the bread for the most part. Ordered a chicken tikka masala and thought the sauce was pretty good along with the rice that came with it. Feel like there wasn't enough rice provided to the ratio of sauce available on the pot. The meat itself was tender and very moist so it wasn't dry and overcooked or anything which I find to be very enjoyable. The waiter was pretty attentive, then again there was only like 2 other tables around that was occupied. However, they were a bit too attentive at times asking about if we are ok. I understand you're suppose give the customer a good experience, but sometimes you overreach and you can kinda interrupt the flow of things when people are talking if you go up to them every 5 mins. Overall, not a bad place at all. The price is not expensive, but it is certainly not cheap either. The location itself might be a little bit confusing at first buts basically in a plaza out towards a corner. Once you figure it out, don't think you'll ever get lost finding it again.

I travel a lot, and love Indian food, so I end up trying lots of Indian restaurants. This was an "out of the way" spot which was near where I was staying, so I thought I'd take a chance. I was not disappointed. I had the Murg Vindaloo, and it was absolutely superb. I asked it for a bit spicy, and they handled it perfectly. I paired it with a special Biryani which had chicken and goat, and was excellent. Service was a bit slow to start, but was fine once we got started. My business partner (also a fan of Indian food) and I agreed that this was now our top Indian restaurant.

Putting food aside, I think an important distinction to make is that Shere-E-Punjab has introduced Indian food to many people in Drexel Hill (or has at least made it something that they eat more often). Before it opened in Drexel Hill, the closest Indian restaurants were in Media and University City. Given this exposure to people generally unfamiliar with Indian food, I am happy to say that Shere-E-Punjab's food is very good. Some Indian people I know have said the food is not the best. I think the main reason for this sentiment is that many recipes are Americanized. The samosas, while good, are seasoned on the outside the same way a curly fry would be. I had dum aloo (potatoes in tomato sauce) here for the first time and really liked it. When I told some of my Indian friends about it, they were surprised to find out that the potatoes were stuffed with cheese, saying that this was an Americanized version. In this case, I actually don't think that's a bad thing. Considering most people in this area aren't hardcore Indian food eaters, it's fine to make dishes slightly different so that people will enjoy it. It's better than making completely authentic dishes and reducing the amount of people who are exposed to Indian food! Most dishes come with rice, and Shere-E-Punjab rice is some of the best I have ever had. Whatever seasoning they use, it's great! The lunch buffet is also great. Occasionally they even have dinner buffets. Last Christmas Eve they had a special dinner buffet and it was delicious. It was nice to see the place packed, as most of the time it's relatively empty. In terms of pricing, Shere-E-Punjab is pretty average for comparable Indian restaurants. I've been to cheaper ones, but I've also been to more expensive ones. The interior is beautiful, the service is friendly, and the food is very good, so there really isn't anything to complain about. I'm glad that Drexel Hill is diversifying its restaurant scene!

Went for the buffet lunch today, and it was just OK. Nothing was hot (temperature) and the flavors were mediocre. For example the Dal Makhani had no spice whatsoever. There were a few good dishes, Saag Paneer and Lamb Vindaloo (though not spicy). There are very few Indian buffets in this area so it will fulfill your cravings, but is nothing special.

Great variety at this $10 lunch buffet. Everything was very flavorful without being over the top spicy. The usual Indian buffet fare (chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, basmati rice, samosas) was present as well as a few dishes I've not tried before. Freshly made naan delivered to the table to compliment the buffet items. A refill on bread was provided at no extra cost. Buffet runs from 11:30am to 3PM. Our server was great. Will definitely go back.

Whenever I am going to be in a new area, I find myself taking advantage of the opportunity to try a new restaurant. I know nothing about the Drexel Hill area, but had read good reviews for this place. On my way from work to an appointment, I recently ordered takeout. Although they messed up my order (not sure how Chicken Makhani over the phone sounds like Chicken Tikka Masala??) I ended up receiving the best Chicken Tikka Masala I've ever had. The chicken was tender, the sauce was creamy without being too thick or runny and the "extra spicy" level I had requested was perfect. I found myself dangerously trying to sneak little spoonfuls out of the piping hot container when I was stopped at red lights. The basmati rice was also the best I've had..it was aromatic, warm, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The garlic naan was delicious as well. I'm going to have to detour from my regular route home more often just so I have an excuse to come here.

A great Delco option! Went on a Sunday at noon, sat right down, had a drink and my first plate of food within 5 minutes Everything on the buffet was hot and fresh! Service was good and you get your own basket of fresh naan instead of it being on the buffet. $20 for two of us with tip. I can't wait to go back, and I can anytime since it is close to home and I don't have to fight for parking downtown!

Small and friendly Indian eatery. Good lunch buffet. Healthy share of salads and grilled meats. Location could be tricky as it doesn't face a main street. In case you miss it, it's right in front of Ace Hardware.

Loving Indian food as much as I do, I was thrilled when we received a menu in the mail from Shere-e-Punjab for Drexel Hill during the summer. I scooted on over there (only took me less than five minutes) and indulged in the lunch buffet. Fantastic! Everything was fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Now, I go twice a week and I'm never disappointed. I've brought some friends and they enjoy the food as much as I do. It has to be one of the best restaurants for Indian cuisine that I have ever had. The interior is inviting with comfortable booths and the service is exceptional. The food is constantly replenished on the buffet and the price is terrific: $8.00 every day including the weekend. A true bargain considering you get to eat all of this marvelous food and as much as you want. So, spread the word to friends and family. They'll love it.

We frequent this location and their Media restaurant for dinner quite a bit and love both. This one is usually less crowded. Great decor, consistently great food, and love that you can BYO even though they also serve alcohol. The bread here is amazing --it should be the same at both. But somehow the onion kulcha here has been outta this world, fresh, fragrant with cilantro, lightly brushed with butter, and piping hot. Wow, I could go for some right now!!

Best undiscovered Indian buffet in the suburbs. The wife and I have been here 14 times. That's right 14. Their weekday lunch buffet is $8 and is the best deal around. Lots of choices both meat and vege. A fresh basket of Naan delivered to your table. Friendly servers. What's not to like! The weekend lunch buffet is $11 and change. Again a great deal! If you are looking for a great lunch any day of the week give this place a try.

It's a BYO and the service was good. The sauces were heavy but good, but the shrimp were "iffy," and a couple of them had clearly gone bad, even though the waitress assured us they had just arrived that day. Although I love Indian food, I wouldn't go back.

Food was excellent. Same with the service. Clean place and quaint. In the back of a shopping center so I'm not sure if people know about it. They rate their dishes so you know how spicy it is. I got the Level 4 of 5 and it was delicious but I like things hot. I'd go back.

I found the food bland, the meat tough and the tandoori shrimp was dicey. Won't come back here. I've gotten better Indian food from the gas station near me.

This place was kind of hard to find. The signage from the road wasn't fantastic and it's location is tucked in the back corner of the first building in the shopping center. When you walk in, however, you're presented with a nicely decorated, well lit (sunlight) indian restaurant with a buffet waiting for you. Having never been to India, I am unable to comment on the authenticity of the dishes presented. What I can say was that I really enjoyed the preparations. Everything I tasted had flavor and it seemed cooked very well. Even dishes that are the american staples tasted better here than I've had at other places. On my plate there was palak paneer (very delicious), a samosa, some sort of vegetable ball in a curry sauce and, of course, the ubiquitous chicken tikka masala. I liked it all. The masala, which I'm not normally a fan of had a surprising amount of flavor. The palak paneer still had some of its green characteristic and had a little tang to it. Nothing was very spicy here, and that doesn't surprise me since it's a buffet. Service was fine, not thrilling but it got the job done. At $10 for the lunch buffet I felt like it was well worth it. My co-workers, who normally aren't adventurous at all even liked it. I'll be back.

Before our experience last night, I would have definitely placed this restaurant at 4 stars, for the take-out alone. However, our experience at their Valentine's Buffet was so terrible, that I hesitate to even go for the three. Know this- almost everyone can agree that the food here is on point. I only wish I had been able to sample more of it at their advertised Valentine's special. They ran out of food; they ran out of plates. Some foods were hastily refilled using large salad bowls and adding to the leftover sauce that had been sitting under the lamps, while others were never seen again (or in the first place) Dinner plates were replaced with salad plates, and with sauce heavy food, it made eating awkward. The staff was obviously overwhelmed. From other reviews, perhaps having a full restaurant is unusual for this location. They were snipping at each other, and at us, as we had to ask for our check 3 different times. I ate a fraction of a dinner, and was charged $20 (per person) - more than twice the cost of their normal lunch buffet, which sounds far more efficient and with actual food. Despite feeling very upset about our experience, I did feel bad for the staff, as we were not the only ones unhappy, but were far more quiet than other patrons. I am sure it was a frustrating evening for everyone involved. Take-out from here is delicious, but I would not come here for a holiday special (and they have several more advertised) again.

Unimpressed. Very poor service. Not customer friendly. I ordered my meal to go. They refused to put my condiment sauce in a travel container- said "NO" . I was befuddled. $28 in food to go and I cannot get a small ketchup container for my tamerin sauce? "NO" was the only answer I got. So I said ok- keep your food and I will dispute this charge. So he angrily goes to back and comes out with the tiny container . The food was marginal- as if it were reheated from a previous buffet. It is worth the drive to Himalayan Star in Malvern. I would never support a business this that is this uninterested in retaining it costumers.

Finally made it to dinner here at the Drexel Hill location...so happy we did! The food is delish! Everything we had was so good. The atmosphere was warm and quiet and service was friendly and quick. We ordered two appetizers; Reshmi Kabab and Gobhi Pakora...both were beautifully plated and arrived to the table hot! We shared both and not a piece of anything was left on the plates! For our entrees we had the Chilly Chicken and Punjabi Tikka served with rice...so good!!! The heat from the spice in the Chilly Chicken made my husband sweat, but he asked for it since he told the server he wanted it very spicy! He shared it with me, it had so much flavor and so much heat, but it was wonderful. The Punjabi Tikka was very flavorful and it was so much food, I took half home. Lunch tomorrow! Our server was so sweet, i asked for the dessert to go...Kheer, a rice pudding with spices, nuts and raisins...he put it in my bag complimentary. I cant wait to go back again for lunch! Oh! Get the Garlic Naan!!! Oh as for some of the negative reviews, i have a hard time believing them because we had such a nice experience!

So I actually LOVE Shere-E-Punjab. Their food is wildly inconsistent in both quality and flavor, their website is an absolute train wreck, their grub hub menu is extremely incomplete, and their over-the-phone ordering is basically impossible to do because of mild language barriers. THAT BEING SAID, I have never left Shere-E-Punjab unhappy. Their servers are very helpful and very gracious, their daily buffet is AMAZING, extremely reasonably priced, and varied enough for all taste preferences, and their food is always prepared quickly and to your specifications. They're amazing, even if they do kind of flub up every now and again. Shere-E-Punjab, I really hope you get that delivery driver you've been advertising for, because I'd probably order from you every night of the week.

We come back every so often to Shere-E-Punjab, and it's funny, because it seems like they step up their game every time a new Indian Restaurant opens up in the area. The food's always pretty good, but it's very cyclical. It will be fantastic for a while, and then it will start to slide down hill. As soon as there's some competition, they suddenly wake up and the food is fantastic. This last visit was fantastic, when we came for dinner. I love the chilli chicken, but they never have it on the lunch buffet. I usually have a hard time reconciling the price for dinner with the quality of the food, but not last time. For the first time in a long while it was back to the quality when it first opened. The lunch buffet is a whole other story- It's seems like Shere-E-Punjab gets to shine when they're showcasing their food for the buffet. Besides that, it makes for some fantastic people watching (according to Mrs. H.)

In the western suburbs of Philadelphia, this is the best place for an Indian lunch buffet. Weekdays only 9.95. There is always a wide variety, and naan and water is refreshed frequently. Please open a location in Ardmore or anywhere on the Main Line!

I've eaten here a bunch of times takeout and in the restaurant. I've always found the food to be excellent. Last night I got delivery for the first time. The food arrived in 25 minutes and was hot and fresh.

I was only mildly satisfied by this cuisine. The naan was good, but I wasn't really impressed with the chicken, the samosas, or any of the vegetable dishes in the lunchtime buffet. I thought that most of the dishes were a bit too salty for Americanized Indian cuisine.

Great little restaurant in Drexel line! 9.95 lunch buffet and has all of the favorites. As per usual palak paneer is amazing. They also provide naan even for the buffet customers. Staff is friendly and quick to clear the dirty dishes and fill the buffet. Not that this really throws me off, but at least one server had absolutely no idea what we were saying. Typically I am understanding but when you are in the service industry and working at a place where people might ask you a question or two you should at least understand what we are asking. Another downer: the question we were asking was about whether we could use our groupon. Waiter one says yes and nods his head. Waiter two who speaks English comes back after our food was ordered and check was handed back to him to let us know that we can't use it. He was also pretty rude.

Very consistent food. Chicken Vindaloo was spicy and more tomato-rich than other places. Palak Paneer was tasty. As BaoWow mentioned, the bread is really good. My favorites are the garlic naan, aloo naan and the bread basket special (a lot of dough, but you get a lot of dough). Service is courteous and water is refilled quickly. You can adjust the spice level of any dish, just ask when you order. They will typically ask anyway.

I'm not that good at star selection, as I only write on yelp if I really love something or I really hate it. Shere-E-Punjab, I love your guts. I am only nervous that not enough people know about this place because it is not usually crowded when I've been here! Go here people! The chicken tikka masala is deelish and they have a special biryani with all types of deliciousness that I recommend. I don't remember what all Indian foods are called but all of the foods I've eaten her are sooo good. The only things I can say is that even though the lunch buffet is the BEST one I've seen, I do wish things could be a bit more spicy, but they are just catering to the masses. Also, the waiters do kind of stare at you while you are eating, but I think they are probably just bored.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not particularly keen when it comes to judging Indian food. I know when it's good, bad, or okay, but that's about it. I can't differentiate between varying degrees of "okay". That being said, this place is good. The decor is pretty decent, even if it is located in a difficult-to-find corner of a crappy strip mall. We ordered makhani (butter) chicken and mutter paneer (green peas and cheese cubes) as our entrees, both of which were tasty. The makhani sauce is on the sweet side here. Portions are always kind of small at Indian restaurants, but they are reasonably-sized here and worth the price (dishes are maybe a dollar or two cheaper than your average Indian place in Philly). The raita ($3) comes in a small bowl and the cool cucumber yogurt perfectly complements the heat of the rest of the food. Their garlic naan is delicious, though not as dense as I normally like my naan: it's pretty light and airy, almost like a cross between pita bread and puri. The tomato soup (also $3) is good though deceptively filling. It looks like a normal-sized bowl, but it's so thick and rich that half a serving will stuff you silly. It's a bit like drinking sauce from an Indian dish (perhaps makhani, but less sweet) straight up, if you can handle that. Someone needs to start making a paneer-and-naan grilled cheese, I feel like that would be awesome with this soup. Anyway, I wasn't really a fan of their masala tea, it was too weak and not nearly masala-ed enough for my taste. On a side note, "medium spicy" here is relatively mild. If you want a bit of a kick, you may want to ask for spicy, though I'm not sure how spicy it will actually be. I'm pretty excited to come back for the lunch buffet.

I'm addicted to Indian food so of course I had to try this place. The naan was soft and wonderful but some parts were burnt. The chicken in the chicken tikka masala was VERY good - soft, juicy. Usually its dry in other places and I'm picky about that. But the main reason why I wrote this post is because after I had some of my boyfriend's chicken vindaloo, we both had...let's just say, "digestive issues" for the next 48 hours. I gave 1 star as opposed to 3 mainly because of the service. The food was A-OK. Being South Indian I have had just as good or better Indian food for less price in NE Philly and in the city. I believe the food was a bit overpriced but the ambience was nice which is what I think you are really paying for. When I got there with my friend on a Thursday evening we were the only ones in the restaurant. The server was very helpful and explained the menu. At the end of the meal I asked for a doggy bag since I had not finished all of my food. The server asked me, "You cannot finish the rest of that? But you are so fat". I am not skinny nor am I extremely overweight. Regardless of my weight I am also a human being and I did not appreciate his comment which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. My friend and I paid for our food and left. Now you know my rating of 1 star. I will never dine there again.

I was so happy to find a local Indian restaurant because it was a hassle to go to University City every time I wanted some quality Indian food. This place is really tucked away in Drexeline where the Brusters used to be across from ACE. I am happy to report that the place has been there for a while because the location isn't that great. The food here is always averages as acceptable with some being exceptional and some not so hot. I have never really been disappointed with this place, but it has never completely blow me away. THE GOOD: -Decor is nice and there are usually plenty of seats available without a wait -The buffet has plenty of options available. The chicken tiki masala is always awesome. -Price. Can't beat 8 bucks for lunch -Goat. Yes. THE BAD -Quality of food is hit or miss. I know that lamb vindaloo is probably a more pricey, but one time you will go and have chucks of that delicious adorable animal, and the next it will be a bland meat/meat flavored ball. -Replenishing the stock. A lot of the meat or more prepared dishes aren't stocked as much as things like rice or samosas. Not bad if you aren't eating what's out, but kinda blows if you want more of something and a large group goes to get it once it is replaced. THE UGLY -I love nan, just like I love any cultures bread type product. In fact, I wish it was part of the buffet so I could shove my pie-hole with as much of it as humanly possible. Here, nan is brought fresh and warm to your table. Except that one time when they brought us whole wheat tortillas. It wasn't something that ruined the meal, but one of those really? moments. More funny than anything, but tortillas just don't really do the trick here. -Tummy troubles. This is really the one thing keeping this place from getting four stars. Me and a friend usually dine at Shere-E-Punjab once a week. However, one week we both ended up getting pretty sick in the middle of the night. Clearly, we thought it was the food since it was what we had in common and the symptoms were the same. We waited few weeks thinking it was a fluke, and went back. A-Ok. Then the next week the same thing happened again the following week to my friend. I think it is something to consider when picking a place. She won't go back and I'm longing for some Indian. I expect as much from such illustrious foodie heavens as Applebee's or Denny's, but it sucks when you like a place a lot, and get sick from it. So pretty good overall, just be careful because a one time fluke can prevent you from going back.

I will never return to this place. I went there close to lunch buffet closing time. I asked if food was still available, and so it was. The food was horrendous. Dry, nasty, almost taste like left over from the night before. This was my second visit here (first time buffett). If the food was to be trashed or taken back to the kitchen, why didn't say so? I will not go back.

If you don't try their lunch buffet something is wrong with you. This is NOT your standard buffet. The food is amazing. It also looks too good to eat. What lunch buffet do you know that has food that looks too pretty to eat? None that I know, except Shere-E-Punjab. Fabulous value. a Ten spot gets you all-you-can-eat Indian food. The atmosphere is peaceful, quiet, especially considering it is in a shopping center. Service is very good. Even the free bread they bring you is amazing. Easily my favorite lunch spot.

We visited this establishment on a Friday around 7 pm. There were about 5 other tables occupied. We started our meal with the cashew naan, it was delicious! We then ordered an eggplant and chicken dish that comes with rice. Both were very good. The rice has great flavor on its own. You can customize the heat level for every dish. We ordered the rice pudding for dessert. It was creamy and better than the average rice pudding. I typically don't like rice pudding but this one was thicker than I have had in the past. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I feel like the decor could use some help though. The seat to our booth was ripped which isn't particularly attractive. We will definitely come back for more Indian food.

We are semi-regulars are Shere-E-Punjab. The service is usually good, and the food is always delicious. It is very decently priced as well, and is usually never busy when we come for dinner. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are only maybe 2 vegan entree options.

I went before to their location the one located in media . But never got chance to go to this one . So I called first and ask if they have buffet in dinner . They said no only in lunch I was little disappointed . But still me and my husband decided to go . We went their dinner time . Food was good not so impressive . Customer service was good . But I wish they have buffet in dinner too so i would have chance to try different dishes . Overall it was good experience .

Lunch buffet is amazing. The chicken tiki masala will blow your mind. Be sure to loosen your belt before you come here for the lunch buffet. I went out at least two notches. The prices are great. The service is wonderful. The decor is OK but who cares if it doesn't look great when the food is throwdown quality!

Excellent Indian food and the quality is consistent -- never greasy or over spiced. I've ordered almost everything on the menu over the years and have never been disappointed. I travel to India for work 1-2 times a year and can say this food is definitely authentic. With not many Indian places in Delco, I'm glad Shere-E-Punjab does it well!

Go there to eat, service is good, parking is easy, BYOB...just stay away from the vindaloo

I eat here for lunch almost every week, (Drexel Hill)., having the buffet. Always tasty, with plenty of selection. Food is a bit spicy, not just hot. Probably why I like it so much. Quite a bargain, with a free order of Nan included.

AMAZING FOOD!! This place is great and the service is excellent. I've only been there for dinner (and only lived in the area for about 3 months, but have gone here at least 4 times already). I am originally a customer of the Media restaurant, so you can imagine my shear joy in hearing one closer to home opened up. I usually get my food to go, but am really looking forward to checking out the lunch buffet. The food is ALWAYS consistently good, and the servers are well mannered. This is a must visit!

Go there to eat, service is good, parking is easy, BYOB...just stay away from the vindaloo

Very clean, nice people, reasonably priced. If you like good Indian food then this is a great place to try. For take out they charge by the container, not the pound. The naan bread was PERFECT!

Really happy to have them in the neighborhood. Excellent food which is, with few exceptions, served very mild unless requested otherwise. I go there regularly and am always happy with the experience.

Yummy Indian!! Vegetable samosas were my husband's favorite. The portions were generous and delicious. We're moving to the area soon, and will absolutely be back.

Expensive but worth every penny. This is quality food, and I have never had so much as a sub-par course here. And this is coming from an American who scoffed at Indian food till just a few years ago. In fact, I brought my dad (who never eats anything other than steak) here, and by the end of the night, the tender, perfectly spiced Lamb Korma had won him over. I'll be back, and when dad feels like a respite from steak, he will be too.
